81-83 22r swap
I have an 81 pickup, blew the engine. Bought an 83 22r with 170 in first 3 cylinders and 155 in 4th cylinder. Put oil in cylinder and didnt boost compression, so Im told its not rings, but valve seal. Engine started so quick, you couldnt hear starter. Paid 350 for it. I got the coil and complete engine from carb to pan. Its a nevada 22r, so the vaccuum lines to firewall were very different. I forgot to get wire harness, and had to cut and wire plugs for the coil. Main plug coming from top of carb plugged in, oil sensor plugged in, fuel lines hooked up, exhaust. There are I think 3 other plugs on carb side of engine, that dont match. I dont have any left on my 81. My question is what are these? Do i need them. Truck doesnt have to smog, so What do I have to hook up for the bare minimum to run my truck? You guys have been helpful so far, so dont fail me now. Thanks

And you can not just put the stuff from your old motor onto your new motor? I have a Canadian model 22R and mine has only 6 vacuum lines. I would scan you a page from my FSM but my scanner is being stupid.

I could swap out my parts, but I would prefer not to. My carb and intake, wasnt in best condition. This engine runs tits, so Id like to keep everything on it. If someone out there has a federal 22r swapped into an cali 81, cud you post a pic of engine bay, without air filter on? Or if someone has done this swap, hep me out here. I want to get her on the trails as soon as possible, it kills me to know she wants to run, but my baby is just sitting there, ya know??
