Slaughterhouse Gulch Pics (lots of pics, 56k beware)

mv5841 and I went up to slaughterhouse for our first time today. It was challanging for my near stock runner, but didn't seem to be to hard for mv5841 with his new 3" lift and new mud tires. I really hope idiots don't end up getting the tail closed down, I would love to do it again when my runner is not so stock.

Good lookin' nice to see you took on the pit instead of take the by pass.

Who passed up the chance to put a tire on that big rock in the 6th pic?

I would've messed around on that rock, but that was on a steep hill. I dont' think it was all that sturdy either.

Once I get some real tires on my truck I'm planning on hitting Slaughterhouse since I haven't been up there in over a year but that was with my '97.

Take 285 south about 24.7 miles from where 285 crosses under 470.

Look for the stop light, and take a right, that should be CO43.

Follow 43 for about 7 miles and you should see Saddlestring Road on your left. Take the left and follow that for about .3 miles and you are at the first part, but not on the trail.

The trail IS passable with a stock SUV, but I wouldnt try it.

Hey, now you all know where i'm from. I live right over there, and attended high school in Bailey. I used to drive by slaughterhouse all the time to go see my friends. Hope you all enjoyed Slaugherhouse, that's where i used to practice wheeling, and also where i test out new mods.

Good wheels woulda made it so much easier for me, I went up there with Cooper a/t's and highway tires don't do much good in mud or on hills

Oh, and by the way, we ran it recently, and DANG has it gotten harder. Used to be easy.

Actually, wheelers aren't so much to blame, it's people shooting. the locals get REALLY pissed about folks shooting back there, cuz most of em are jackholes that shoot too close to people's property lines. Don't get me wrong, i used to shoot back there when it was open, but then again, we cleaned up our casings and empty shells as well as did our best to clean up our clay pigeons. There are a few complaints about wheelers getting too "offroad" though, so be careful, but the closure has already occured for shooting.
