Toyota Tundra: How to Replace Side Mirror

The side mirrors on the Toyota Tundra are as big as a big elephant's ears. At some point, you can hit something and break them. With labor being extremely expensive, it's best to do it yourself and save some money. A lot of aftermarket manufacturers produce different looking mirrors for the Toyota Tundra. So whether you want to replace a broken side mirror, or you want to modify the looks of your Toyota Tundra, this guide will help you achieve that. Read on to learn how you can replace the side mirror on your Toyota Tundra.

Toyota Tundra How to Replace Side Mirror

Materials Needed

  • Trim removal tool
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Socket

Step 1 – Remove door panel

Loosen the Phillips screw on the part of the door panel where you grab to close the door. Pop the plastic cover off of the inside of the door handle, then remove the Phillips screw inside there. Remove the cover on the inside of the mirror. You can pull it off by hand, but if it's too hard, use your trim removal tool to pry it off. Finally, remove the clip under the mirror. You can press it with your screwdriver, it will pop, then pry it off with the trim removal tool. Remove the door panel. You don't have to remove it all the way, you just need to lower it to access the mirror bolts.

Step 2 – Remove mirror

Remove the three bolts holding the mirror in place using your socket. They are in a triangle shape; two on the bottom, and one on the top. Then remove the electrical harness by squeezing it and pulling it out. Pull the mirror out while gently wiggling it.

Step 3 – Install new mirror

Install the new mirror the same way you removed the old one. Align it in place, then install the three bolts and tighten them. Install the wiring harness. Install the door panel, then install the clip. Install the inside cover of the mirror, then tighten the door handle screw and cover it. Finally, tighten the last screw on the part where you close the door from.
