Winch Questions

Alright I've finally installed my TJM 15 and over the X-mas holidays I'm planning on adding a Warn M8000. My main dilema is what to do about cable vs. sythetic rope, and if I stick with cable then should I go with a roller or hawse fairlead. All the M8000s I've seen on the internet come with cable and give you a choice of rollers or a hawse, what would you guys recommend between these two?? Also, is there anywhere that sells the M8000 with synthetic rope already, so you don't have to waste money on cable and then replace it with synthetic rope as soon as you install the winch?? Finally, I just noticed that there is a 12v and 24v M8000 model available, which of these two is the best?

if you stick with cable get the roller fairlead, for synthetic go with the hawse. in order to recoup some loss by going to synthetic, post up your cable here for sale.

unless you are running a 24volt system in your truck or two batt. that run together you need the 12 volt winch.

Thanks guys, definitely gonna need the 12v version. I'm planning on going with a roller fairlead if I stick with cable, but warn does offer a steel hawse that works with cable. The roller fairlead is just a lot bulkier and hangs down some on the TJM, so the smaller hawse doesn't look like a bad idea.

Run the 12v. as that's how the Toyota's are setup. The advantage to a 24v. setup is that you double the efficency of the winch motor by dividing the amperage by half. It runs cooler. However this setup usually only exists on purpose built setups and military vehicles.
I run a Hawse fairlead with steel cable. I like the look of the Hawse much better and I rarely(Knock on wood) winch. I traded my roller fairlead for the Hawse so I don't care if I end up munching the hawse within 2 or 3 pulls. I plan on switching to synthetic rope only after the steel cable is ruined.
