i am putting 35x10.50 tiers on a 97 tocoma with stock 15 inch rims
if it put 1.5 inch shock asorbers on the fornt and back will that give me the clearance i need?

If you cut the hell out of the wheelwells.

The Tacomas take more lift than the earlier trucks/4Runners to fit the same size tire. They need about 3" lift just to handle 33x10.50, and to get more lift than that, you're pretty much looking at a bracket lift (like the 6" Fabtech) which will let you fit 35x12.50.

Your '97 came with 15" rims? Thought they had gone to 16's or 17's by then...

i also plan to put a 2block lift in the back and some coil spacers in the front which would put me up to 3.5 but that all i really can afford right know. if you know a cheeper way please tell me right now i am looking at 958$.

those tires are too big without a 6 inch lift, or if you go cheap 3 inch coil spacers and 3 inch body lift. plus on stock wheels you have to get wheel spacers, i would look into this more if i was you.

 

NO! Just say no to blocks! You may be in for cheap now, but you'll be buying new springs later when they've cracked.

If you want a cheap lift for the rear, get shackles. Remember that you need a shackle twice as long as the amount of lift. So, for a 2" lift, you need a 4" shackle.

The better alternative would be to go with a 33x10.50-15 or a 255/85-16 with your spacer lift plan. Will fit no problem, and your gearing will probably be OK. (With the 35's you're really gonna wish you had lower gears)

 

I don't think i'd go 35's on IFS. I'm with tc...just say no to lift blocks. we should make a shirt that says that.

go 33x10.5r15 and be happy.

 

33's you will be able to work out a lift cheap, listen to the masses the 35's are a bad idea if your not planning some expensive work to make it stout, your not the first to want to try this...

 

If you are willing to trim some and take the risk of breaking CV's, etc. 35's are possible. Some people (including myself) run 315x75 16's which are close to a 35x12.50 on 2.5" of lift and a 1" BL.

I am actually looking into the 35x10.50's to eliminate some frame rubbing.

 

Possible yes, but blocks wont be the right way and you will need 4-6" of lift. This is possible, but your engine cannot push those tires and wheels very easy and you wuill go from having a decent truck to being able to run faster..

 

I have 35s on my 04 tacoma 3in toytec spacers 3in body lift.Had 2 go from 16in wheels 2 15x10in wheels. cost a bout 650 dollars, but well worth it.
