San Diego crew...lets go wheeling

Well since my B-Day bash kinda flopped..lets plan another run.

This coming Sat the 16th.....

The plan is to meet in front of the Jr High School on the east side of Julian at 9am...from there we will head over to Oriflamme/Rodriguez truck trail. Then down to Anza Borrego for some fun exploring. I want to be done wheeling by about 4pm at latest. We will need some wood for a fire Sat night (Brad...hopefully you can hook it up again)

We will be camping in Oyster Shell Wash, just off the main Fish Creek rd.

On Sunday we will run Coyote Canyon or "the Slot", or maybe both??

Map of the meeting place...

I am thinking either the weekend of December 1st or 15th.

Who wants to go, and where?
I'll be new to the area and want to go. My vote is for the 15th. I don't care where....as long as someone posts some general directions.

I'm not committing as of right now seeing as I flaked on the last one but I would like to join the next run. I'm actually planning my next camping trip with my son for Dec. 2. I was going to run Coyote Canyon and find a spot in Collins Valley for the night, maybe go for a short hike up Sheep Canyon/South Fork on Sunday then head home. If this sounds like it would work for the group we could do it then. I have personally never been past the thrid crossing on Coyote Canyon so that's my draw for this trip. Sorry I'm rambling..........

I feel you Andy. I flaked on him for his b-day bash also. Sorry Marc.

I want to make it out also but need some more time to see how things are going on the home front.

Hey all, I been missing for a long time now. But i'd really love to get back and do some wheeling with the group again. I finally finished the motor rebuild and it runs great, cant wait to get it out and do some axel twisting.
The later date would be best for me because i'm out of town on the 1st.

The 15th is cool with me.....where?? I was thinking of a family run through Anza and Ocotillo. Maybe go through the Mud Cave area to Diablo dropoff and into Fish Creek. We could do Sandstone canyon and others. Then we could run up to The Slot, Blow Sand, and Devils Slide. It would be what i would consider an easy run, but very fun and scenic.

Hey, how about if we skip out on the boring offroad part of the trip and just go see the movie "Happy Feet" together?

I'd be interested. Maybe get to go wheelin' with some locals. I haven't been out in a while. I'd be even more interested if there would be some more demanding trails

Marc I'm in where ever. If there's water in Coyote canyon I'd vote for there.

...or... Azuza canyon, somewhere around LA. I've seen pictures and it looks like a lot of fun, plus it has water and trees and other stuff.

I was in Coyotee Canyon 2 weekends ago and there was lots of water in the bamboo Ho chi Mihn stream!

See how nice and clean our tires look? I was going solo so no pics of the water.

It is a really short trail though unless it goes in further than I have gone. We usually just turn around at the top. Is there more to it?

I went up that creek a long time ago, somewhere at the end you go up the side of this mountain on an old wagon train road (supposedly) and once we got to the top we ended up somewhere around lake skinner or something.

I would like to go...

We got a (new to us) SASed 89 truck with big axles and 5.0 crawler case.

I would like to to Corral Canyon and Sidewinder.

But, will go wherever you guys decide.

Would it be a day trip?

Jim

Jim--long time no hear...sounds like your new ride is pretty sweet. Corral Canyon is closed from the past fires.

My plan is Anza Borrego, and I wouldn't mind running and camping Coyote Canyon.

I have that Corral Canyon Trail Repair day on the 16th so that day is out for me. Let me see if Jo wants to head out next weekend. I will go where ever you guys want to head to.

I am looking forward to seeing that 2nd gen flex'ed out!
