SoCal Cleghorn Nov. 26th seanz0rz's birthday run.

EDIT:

Ok, please PM me if you are planning on going. so far: Toyopnoy, Smiling_Jim

Be at the trail head at 10AM. We will be on our way as soon as everyone is there, or at 10:30, which ever comes first. Please call if you planned on making it but couldn’t, or if you are running a little late. If you aren’t there at 1030, we are leaving with out you, unless we know you will be there in a matter of minutes.

Dress warm, in layers. At night it gets below freezing, and daytime temp is expected to be around 60 degrees. Rain is possible. Wear boots if you have them.

Supplies:
Water
Food (snacks and power bars are a good idea)
Tools
Spare parts
Extra set of clothes
First aid kit
Recovery gear
NO ALCOHOL!

I will PM each of you with Cell phone information. I’m also bringing 2 Motorola two way radios. Bring yours if you have them.

also, i have 3 yota tech diecut stickers, each is 2.50, what i paid for them, first come first serve, ill bring them on sunday.

/////old post/////
I will be running the Cleghorn trail on Sunday, 26 November weather permitting. if its raining, or the mountain is on fire, this event will be canceled.

Nothing organized, show up if you want, bring the normal gear, water, food, change of clothes, tools.

day run, will meet at trail head at 8am, and run for the rest of the day.

im bringing myself, and a couple of friends, of course the 4runner. tools include half inch and three eights inch drive metric sockets, some other randomness.

so whos in?

If I'm done with family affairs from Turkey Day I'll show up. Why cancel if it's raining? It would make some of those chutes a lot of fun.

I hope you have a better turn out for your B-Day than I did. I don't think I will make it up there, so have a good time!

some bypasses are very tough, there are some tight squeezes, a locker or alltrack is a must or it would not be worth your time

The "trail" itself is just a dirt road and not worth driving on; it's the bypasses that make this fun.

Depending how things go with the San Diego outbacks and wheeling in truckhaven I might come on out. I really do want to meet the SD yota crew

i got one more friend to go with me, so i now have a full truck, and several people to take pics and video. im working on a dash video camera mount, hope to have that done and working soon.

does anyone know the bypasses enough to tell me which ones are suitable for my truck? i guess if im going with people i wont have to worry about getting stuck, etc. but i would like to have a smooth trip.

All of the bypasses are ok for you except for 1, and you'll know it when you see it from the main road.

I won't be able to attend, unfortunately. I have to be in Glendale all day helping my wife.

Have you picked a time to meet at the Cleghorn offramp? If I can shake this flu bug I will go. I've never taken my 4Runner up there and I want to give my new Deaver springs more of a workout.

I need directions to the trailhead...

It's 15 North to 138 exit, correct?

If we can get our new (to us) '89 truck running, we will be there...

Unless there are other plans you need to get off at the Cleghorn exit which is well before the hiway 138 exit. The Cleghorn exit just dumps you off at the mountainside near the dirt road

And by "well before" he means about 3/4 mile, if you're coming in on northbound I-15.

could have sworn i put that in there. we meet at the cleghorn exit, off the I 15, at 10 am.

this will give everyone a chance to fuel up, eat breakfast at dennys, etc.

there are no services at cleghorn. im not sure where the closest gas station is, probably on or before sierra on the 15.

personally im taking the 215 up.

i will PM the people going in the next couple of days with phone numbers, etc.

equipment required is the standard off road afair.

http://ttora.com/wiki/index.php/4-Wheeling_Information

read that, it will help.

other stuff to bring:
extra change of clothes
warm clothes (it gets below freezing up there at night)
fire extinguisher (fire danger is still high)

NO alcohol, whatsoever! i dont care, just dont bring it! also, off road i drive slow (i love my truck too much to abuse it.)
