Steering wheel wobbles and shakes.

Pretty recently my steering wheel will wobble and shake, usually on deceleration. I just got done jacking up both sides of the truck and wiggled the tires forward and back with my hands at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions and have more play than I prefer. I think it may have to do with worn hub bushings? Both sides wobbled but the tires spun freely with no noises and no rough spots so I don't think it's the wheel bearings. Any ideas?

Both but when I hit the brakes it will go away if they are pressed hard enough.

Warped rotors?

EDIT: Nevermind, the last post didnt fully register in my mind. I was reading "does it when brakes are pressed down hard".

check the draglink idler arm on the right side, wear in the bushings here is common.

have someone wag the wheel while you watch the part. If it wobbles you've found the problem

I would def get the rig up- and wiggle all the front suspension arms and check the bushings and such. tie rods etc.

It starts at about 40mph as soon as I let off the gas it shakes. I drove it on the highway tonight and at 60 it was shaking so bad it was like my seat was a giant vibrator (kinda comfy actually) but it shaked no matter what I did. Slower speeds, it will only do it when I let off the gas and feels like it's coming from the front of the truck. The vibrations shifted from the front to the whole truck at highway speeds so now I'm thinking it's a bad U-joint. This started to happen after rockcrawling in 4-high and has been getting worse.

I don't think this is your problem, but i had mud on the inside of my wheels, dried mud that it is, and when i would brake it cause bad vibrations. I took the wheels off and cleaned mud off and it solved the problem, the dried mud was in my case the problem.

All I have to say is CHECK YOUR DRIVESHAFT BOLTS!!!! Mine was soooooo close to falling off. Good thing my friend had to pee so we stopped and I looked to see what was going on. Two bolts were gone and the other two were almost all the way loose.
