98 Front Speakers

Just got a 1998 4Runner and the front speakers need replaced. They are okay at low to mid volumes, but sound cracked/blown at a decent volume. I'm not interested in replacing the deck. Shinny decks and broken windows seem to go hand in hand. I also dont like the look and fit of after market decks.

Anyway, after a bit of research, found that the front doors take 6 1/2s. Am I dumb to spend $150 on a pair of Infinity 60.7CS? The reviews on them are quite decent, but are they overkill for a stock deck?

I realize you cant expect much bass from a 6 inch speaker, but if not these, what would you recommend?

Ignore the $300 price tag as I would never pay that much. $150 on ebay.

If you don't wanna replace your deck check into some of the cheaper Pioneers, they usually do pretty good even when heavily underpowered.

These should do good.

I got these, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2OVy2NP...ston+Acoustics

They were really easy to install in the fronts, rear of the x-cab in my t100 was a PITA though.

I had cracking and popping and the systemw ould shut downw hen you cranked it to high using an older pioneer head unit and the stock speakers. I installed the new speakers and same crap, I ripped out the headunit and check the connects and some were a bit loose and there was a cable attached to nothing that I put electical tape over the exposed connections.

Check your head unit before you do anything..

Thanks for the help. Looks like I'll probably end up with some mid priced Polks or Pioneers. Hopefully I get around to it sooner than later. I'll let you know how it goes.

If you want high end stuff at a reasonable price, these would absolutely own those Infinities, have a very clear and natural silk tweeter, and can be had for $230 shipped from an authorized dealer I know of. http://car.rainbow-audio.de/products...=2&pro=1&lin=7

If ya want a 6.5 with amazing midbass move up to these, around $300 shipped from same dealer
