ct-26 on my 87 runner?
I have a friend that has a ct-26 turbo and I was wondering if it was just a matter of getting the manifold and piping to get it running ordo I need to rework the engine itself to get it to work right? I know there is tuning and stuff like that but I have never worked with turbos and would like to get more power out of the runner.

this has been discussed a bit in the past little while, but I'll give you the basic summary:
You would need:
1: 22RTE exhaust manifold(and a dremel to enlarge the hole a little bit: CT26 mounts on 80mmx70mm, CT20(22RTE) is 70x70ish)
2: either: turbo pistons, and/or a turbo head.
3: bigger injectors(stock 22RE are only 200cc/min, 22RTE are 295)
4: computer to regulate greatly increaded demand for fuel(megasquirt, or 22RTE computer)
5: to tap the block for the oil lines
6: brasie on a coolant passage to the rad to run coolant to the turbo
To get any good gains, you will need all of these things, or else you're not going to be able to run enough boost to actually justify the cost of allt he parts.

unless you want to run race gas: yes.
The 22RE has a 9.0:1 compression ratio, in compairason the 22RTE has a 7.5:1 compression ratio.
You might be able to get away with just running a super super thick headgasket, but you would have to severly limit the amount of boost(3-4lbs mabey?), and retard your timing. And with all this, you should still run premium gas, to minimize the "garuntee" of detonation.
The chevy thing may not be too bad. It's a smaller engine, so it'll fit a bit nicer than a 350, and there are companies that build adapters.

The chevy 305 and the 350 are identical outside so that won't be an issue. It has a ton of torque so I would love to put it in but I have access to the turbo but it's too much work for me to even get into right now.

Megasquirt would allow you to control your timing. Rick at fullboogie.net was getting 170hp out of an otherwise stock 22RE with a nice turbo on it. Properly tuned and megasquirted, of course.
You could do the ~80cc 22rte head, thicker head gasket, moderate boost, retarded timing, lots of options.... A turbo will work with moderation and give you a nice kick in the pants, but for real power you'll have to drop the compression.
