I painted mine the original black color but I hear that red adds like 5 HP.

If you paint it Red with Black/silver Type R on the side you get something like 17.985982347943873498753 more hp...

I am rebuilding mine in the spring and I think I am going to paint it silver.. why.. i have no clue

Actually according to my heat transfer text, black will radiate way the most heat.

I painted mine ford blue, it looked great on the stand but you can't see much with it in the truck. Black is better for heat but a light color would make it easier to find leaks.

POR makes a pretty decent engine paint.
I think the only thing better is to powdercoat the dang thing, like a marine block...

I like that color alot! Abuddy of mine had some flip flop left over and he painted his block, heads and valve covers. That was different.

POR paint, gloss black. Intake is powdercoated:

I'll brag about the head while I'm here.. notice the stainless hardware (~$10-15): & tap in the fuel rail for a fuel pressure gauge:

If you need any powder coating on the intake, valve pan, or injector rail then let me know.
