how much for a brake job?
#3
Well, if you wanna save, order the rotors, and pads, spend an afternoon replacing. It really isn't very hard to do. Although if you don't have any tools, it will cost you about as much to buy the tools as it will cost to pay someoe else to use theirs.

Is anyone really paying people to put brakes on their vehicles lately? Especially people on YT? I am not trying to be disparaging but puting brakes on a vehicle (any vehicle) is not hard. Buy yourself the tools (as stated above) and learn if need be. Or if you have a mechanically handy friend buy him a case of his favorite cold beverage and assist him changing out the brakes. Otherwise the Haynes and Chilton manuals are pretty good aids when doing this task.

go to LC engineering and get a set of Cross Drilled and slotted rotors($45 a peice), then get a set of pads($25-$60 depending on brand), and i paid $17 for the 54mm socket to remove the wheel bearing assebly. Other than that keep a few beers handy and search around on the forum, there are tons of write-ups on front hub removals.

i have a set of bendix on mine. i also had to get new calipers(the old ones had a couple of seized pistons). where are you located? if you need to use the 54mm socket i will be happy to send it your way(provided i get it in return), but it is a good tool to have on hand if you ever need to do any CV changing or wheel bearing work.
just a heads up....if you haven't changed the pads in a while, the removal pins might be rusted(almost welded) onto the calipers. if you have never done brakes on a pickup when you pull your wheel you will see what i mean. i had to remove my old caliper and cut the pins and order new ones from the dealer($17 for all four pins). but you can kill all of these birds with one huge stone and go to advanced auto and get new loaded(comes with the new pads and pins ready to rock) calipers. i think i paid 80 each for mine(after the core charge was refunded). it is a full afternoon full of work but the results are worth it!
with my wider than stock tires and x-drilled and slotted rotors i can stop in a hurry!
hope this helps...
