few questions on chevy spring swap
I have a 87 4 runner. i have searched a ton and have decided that a chevy spring swap might be right for me. I am gonna do a ifs lift 4-5 inch and upgrade to soem decent shocks and would like to do chevys in the rear. I am plannign on running 33 12.5's . The kinda wheeling i do is easier trails and alot fo gravel fireroad hualin going huntinn and shooting. I have heard from other peopel that the chevy not only give very good flex but also have fairly good high speed dampening.
But can I obtain 5 inches of lift from them. I was thinking about doing the 2wd which is 3 leaves and also leaving on the overload leave. I dotn plan on doing a double shackle. Will i be able to get 5 inches of lift anyway with the spring? And if so how long of shackle etc...? Or will i have to use a block liek the 3.5 inch oen that coems with my lift kit. Also for my shock setup I am looking for a design that flexs good but is good at speeds also. At fist i liked the idea of puting a bar under the rear and angle the mspring like many people do but someone told me this sucks at speed. Can i comprimiz between flex and dampening and do them not verticle but not completly trianglulated?
Any input is welcome just tryign to get a gameplan befro i go buy parts and start this project.

Go with a 3" lift and chevys, and you'll be fine. As for the shocks, get yourself a www.skymanufacturing.com rear shock hoop. I'd do a 2" bl while I was at it to help clear tires, I think it also helps when working on certain things under the truck.

get the kit from http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/ the chevy swap one, if I were you I would use the 2wd spring with the overload and a AAL which would give you 4-5"s of lift, my buddy runs this and has 35"x12.5" and has plenty of room for flex

if i am gonna do 2wd with the over load and a add a leaf why not do the 4wd that has the 4 leafpack and overload? Some people turn the overlaod upside down for more lift? I am looking for about 5 inches i think because as i have heard they settle and when under laod from gear they sag alot?
