Will a Helicoil be a perminent fix on a rocker arm?

Is a Helicoil an acceptable perminant fix for a striped thread at the end of a rocker arm where the valve adjustment screw go's in? Will this give issues later? This is on a 22RE rocker. The vehicle is needed and I have been told by 2 local people that this would work just fine.. but I'd appreceate feedback from you guys.. Thanks in advance

How'd you strip that out?

I think your best bet would be just to get another rocker arm, shouldn't be that expensive.

Wasn't me.. was the mechanic installing my new 22RE.. I'm pretty sure it wasnt shiped out that way. lol.. the whole top half is new high performance items.. so I know the rocker setup was NOT a used one that may have had damage.. I looked at the engine myself after it arived.. It's every thing the builder said it would be built as... I will be getting a new rocker arm. but in the meen time I need the vehicle.. So.. the mechanic said they can Helicoil it and that should be a fix. I'm just curious since I know this bolt had a dynamic load versus a static load on it (Movement versus constant pressure)... I just want to make sure if this is a strong enough fix for now. My problem with it is... Now that the engine has been heated up and run in, the head gasket has not had a chance to seal up.. If the head bolts have to come off to get thet rocker assembly off then I know that will probably weeken the current gasket and cause a future failure. Otherwise they will have to go as far as taking the head off and doing the gasket all over again, just to put on a rocker arm... Sigh.. This whole thing's got me SO pissed..

Make the mechanic provide you a loaner and/or agree to fix it ASAP and bum a ride or rent a car. Fix it once, fix it right IMO.
