This may belong in the deals section but since this product is only for 3rd gens (actually 99-02 only), I thought I'd post here.

PP has the OEM fogs w/ the OEM switch on sale for $99. This is the same kit I bought for my SR5 a year ago for about $200. If you have an SR5 like mine that doesn't have fogs but you want to fill those holes in your bumper, here's the ticket. I think the dealer price was about $400 when I looked last year.

Thats a fantastic deal. What is the difference in the OEM ligts and the ones from burtman industries? Also, whats "PP"?

I have the factory installed fog lamps. The problem is, they do nothing. I might as well duct tape my daughter's Sesame Street toy flashlight to the front.

Anyone have a solution to make these factory fog lamps into serious auxilary lights?

Yeah, the OEM fogs definately arent that bright, they do help a little, but don't expect to go dear spotting with them anytime soon. The solution, PIAA 2 8" PIAA 540s, makes anytime look like daytime.

Thank you, i was wondering when someone was going to answer that. A little off topic, are the lights burtman industries offers any brighter than oem? Or has anyone built a bracket to put aftermarket lights in the stock holes?

You have to call them since they have to do a price overide. They are not available online @ that price. It is only being advertised in the new performance catalog.

They're fog lights... They're not SUPPOSSED to be bright. Fog lights are supposed to give you a wide, short pattern from as close to the road as possible. If you want bright, then install driving lights higher than the stock fog location. And don't complain when your high wattage superbright driving lamps blind you when it's foggy...

Ive never seen toyota 4runner fog lights in action, but i was hoping they would be almost equivilent the lowbeam light.

Not even close for me. They're meant for foggy situations so I'm assuming they would point much lower than a lowbeam so that you can see better in these conditions.

Overall, I just think it looks better and gives me more light.

If they were equivalent to the low beams, then they wouldn't be appropriate as fog lights. There are a lot of good articles on fog vs. driving lights, which color lamps are better under certain conditions, etc, that would give you a better understanding of how fog lights and driving lights DO NOT compare. For true use as a fog light, you want a low, wide, short pattern of yellow light. This also works very well during dark, rainy conditions.

The nice thing about having functioning DRL's is you can reduce your low beams to DRL levels to reduce glare from your driving lights, while the fogs are on doing their "thang".

What I meant was, I can never tell when they are actually on. Even when foggy, they are hardly noticeable. Some of the other lights I have seen are blue(which may be illegal unless you are a cop) or yellow, because they have a shorter wavelength, and therefore don't blind you back as you drive. My PIAA 540 IONs are super bright, but great in the fog. $100 is a great price, but I wouldnt expect much of a difference other then looks.

Fog lamps are meant to be mounted low, and driving lights could actually be used as fog lights. If I remember correctly fog hovers about a foot off the ground and the object of the fog lamp with it's wide flat beam is to illuminate the road surface under the fog better. Kind of like being in a buring building stay low to the ground. The lower you mount them the better. I think 95% of all the OEM fog lights that come with todays vehicles are just cosmetic. The time has come to buy these lights. The website is not very clear. Do these lights come with all the right brackets, and what bulbs come with the lights.

In my 00 w/o the fogs I would often just use the DRL's in foggy conditions and that seemed to work better than low beams. I would ask how you can use DRL's and fogs, on my 02 if the low beams aren't on the fogs won't come on either, even w/ the corner lights.

The ones I sell are pretty bright, brighter than the OEM hellas.

THe coolest thing with this particular kit, is it has a brain box and two remotes, so you don't have to run any wires into the cabin.
