front speakers in 94 4runner rattle

I believe my 4runner's speakers in the front are blown or are about to. They always seem to rattle or vibrate loud when the volume reaches a certain point. I am not looking to put a system in, I would just like something that can handle quality sound at a loud volume. Any suggestions? Where would I find such pieces? Keep in mind price needs to be resonable.

You should be able to get replacement at your local Circuit City, Best Buy or local sound shop. For $60-$70 you should be able to get a set of speakers that will more then handle the stock radio.

The stock front speakers are junk. ANY aftermarket speaker would be an improvement. Look for an inexpensive "coaxial" speaker (it will have a separate tweeter on it).

Thanks all, I will surely get into that and improve the speakers, does anyone know the sizes that would best fit the front? I was also thinking of getting the backs done, any recomendations? Thanks

go to crutchfield.com. They have tons of info on most any vehicle. Great place to do the homework, even if you don't buy from them. But if you do, they will give you everything you need to install whatever you bought, in the car you choose (car info, speaker wire harnesses, adapter brackets, etc.) for free.

Yes, you have 4" or what crutchfield refers to a 4T. Basically a 4" speaker with only 2 mounting tabs.

As far as 4s are concerned, Infinity's are your friend!

The front speakers in the 4runner (mine is a 1995) are different because (like said above) they have a different mounting structure thank most normal 4" speakers. So its eather fabricate a bracket or... i know Kenwood makes one to fit with the special mounting tabs on Crutchfield. Crutchfield only sells one speaker to fit that slot. Im sure other brands make a speaker that fits I just dont know where to find them.

No problem with fitting standard 4'' speakers, you only use 2 bolts of the 4 as Cebby said.

most speakers like my infinity's, you just have to bend two of the brackets off to make it fit.
I still found that it was alittle tight, the speaker had such a large magnet that it touches whatever is behind it (i think the heater ducts?) but i got mine tight in there and they dont rattle....
