Which size speakers in front and back

Well as you can see I am a n3wbi3. I have looked on a lot of car audio sites and they seem not to give me a clear answer. I am wondering what sizes are in the doors. I am planning to upgrade my speakers, since they are hard to hear over my 10 JL audio subwoofer in the stealth box. Any ideas?

I had 4" factory speakers in the front dash, but they might have well been a clock radio for the sound output. I fit a pair of Infinity 6 1/2" speakers in the front doors by cutting through the fiberboard of the door and mounting them using the hardware. Make sure you don't cut through the plastic water shield behind the panel if you go this route. You can also get kickpanels that would mount to your doors to accomodate your new speakers, but I'm cheap and did them my own way. Hardest part was running the speaker wire through the door grommets.

did you mount those further back, approximately under the armrest? and how did you thread the wires? would an unwound wire coat hanger help? thanks

I ended up putting some 6" up front, and some 4" in the back of my 99. The one thing i noticed about the 3rd gen runners over the 2nd gen runners, is the people in the back can actually have a conversation with the people in the front with the music on in a 3rd gen. When i had my 86 truck, i bought some really nice 4" speakers for the front dash, same as second gen 4runner. That was one of the best sounding vehicals ive ever heard.

The alpine speakers scare me. Something about having a gaping whole in the cone doesnt sound like good qualitly speaker to me.
