New personal website
My 4Runner site got fubared for Internet Explorer users when Microsoft released some updates that messed with JAVA.
My main site uses JAVA for the table of contents.
This did not effect Firefox users at all.
Today I decided to get a jump on my future FJ Cruiser by designing a new site for it that does not use any JAVA, so it should work well with any browser.
Now since I do not have the rig yet, pay no attention to the pictures on the main page and the yellow FJ Cruiser that AJ is building up for a customer at his Bentup shop.
Those pictures are only on my siste as placeholders until I get my own.
It is fun to get back into building a website again.
I have not updated my main 4Runner site in eons since it is on its way out.
http://www.pnw4runners.com/fjc/
It is just going to be a simple site documenting what I will be doing to the rig.
No tables, no fancy stuff.
Also using Front Page 2003 to design it.

You will get pimped sir
Also going to be pimping a great product made by member Bandi over on fjcruisers site.
He is not a member here yet.
His product is for mounting a CB antenna or flag off the rear hinge of the FJC.
http://www.pnw4runners.com/fj/bandi_mount.jpg
Unless he patents it soon, a few members over there might be copying it.

Epinion please
I am using the mud background from the forum here on the above URL as a watermark, so it stays still all the time while you scroll.
The mods link on the above URL does not have the mud background so you can compare it to the main page.
Does having the background make it harder to read, or does it look OK?
TIA,

What, no one looked earlier
OK, I have the mud background set for both the the main FJC site, and the mods page.
But...it gets more fun.
I got a new Flash menu builder program this morning after Googling.
The menus are so easy to make.
You can make them in all different styles, but I choose to have 2 rolls of 4 each.
You can also do them on top of each other, but I wanted less scrolling.
You can also choose the colors and animations of the buttons.
I choose to have flames on my buttons.
Also when you mouse over the menu it clicks, and makes a different sound when you click the button to choose the URL.
I have worked a little bit before with Flash programs, but this one is really easy and just to cool to mess around with.
If you get a chance to try the menu, let me know if it works on your platform.
I suppose this also means for anyone surfing my new site will need to have Flash installed?

Heeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaw
Excuse me while I give myself a round of applause :bigclap:
OK, with Internet Explorer as I have mentioned many a time here, my main site, http://www.pnw4runners.com/tando/ became fubared after a Microsoft update that messed with the JAVA applet I was using for my table of contents I built using Front Page.
I just opened up my TOC file, http://www.pnw4runners.com/tando/toc.htm
in Front Page 2003 and rebuilt is by getting rid of the JAVA menu and using the new Flash menu buttons as described elsewhere in this thread.
My site now works perfectly again with Internet Explorer.
That TOC file above is actually not built into any of my old webpages, it is drawn up virtually and placed in that place on each page by inserting code.
This way I do not have to edit each and every webpage of mine, I just have to edit the toc.htm file and reupload it and all the pages are updated at once.
Very slick, a forum member here taught me how to do that a few years back.
Anyways, the main 4Runner site will be updated again after the FJC arrives, and my new site will become the active one in my sig later.
I am just glad the old site now works with IE again.
At work not all of my PCs have Firefox on them, and I could not view my site at work unless I was on a PC that had Firefox on it.
The only snafu I see with IE is you do not get the menu sounds when you mouse over them and click on them, and you have to click the buttons twice.
The Flash menu works better with Firefox.
I can only hope IE 7 is better than version 6.

Looking good, Corey! Another thing I would consider is using CSS. Basically what that is, is a "header" for your HTML code that'll give every page you put it on the same properties. Then you don't have to worry about manually configuring each page.
Frontpage has the option for this. Check out a few links I found via Google:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/frontpage/articles/13615.aspx
http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/w...sson7.html#css
http://www.gnc-web-creations.com/css-frontpage.htm
Just a thought. Helps keep a uniform look on your site. Otherwise, lookin good!

Thanks Mike, I love the mud.
Chris, will have to check the links later.
I know nothing of CSS, other than it stands for cascading style sheets.
I will not be updating any more my old site anymore though with the exception of the newer trail runs page.
I will have to update it later to take on the look of the two pages I have on the new FJC site.

Corey - CSS will make your life much easier. Much like the vB powered pages here use the forum theme CSS - you don't have to format every single page separately, you only have to set it up once.

Here's some good examples:

They're certainly not limited to just those, and you can mix and match everything on that page into a style sheet, plus anything else you can learn. The ideal style sheet would be used for the same background, text style, text color, page border, etc... basically, the "skin" of the page. It's not complicated at all. Check out some of the sample code for a background:
Code:
<style type="text/css">
body
{
background-image:
url('bgdesert.jpg')
}
</style>
But keep in mind you don't have to manually edit the code... FrontPage will do that for you. I'm just showing you how to recognize it if need be. It'll always be at the top.

Thanks, when I get free time I will play.
Chris, here it is, and it is worth every penny.
http://www.flashation.com/
So simple to use.
You get two files when you publish, 3 when you save your creation when you want to edit it later.
The two files, an html one and a Flash one you use for the page.
On the html one, you simply open it up and look at the source code.
The code gets pasted into your page where you want the buttons to sit.
The flash swf file gets uploaded to your server.
To see just my swf files by itself, here are my two.
They will appear huge now, as there is no html controlling their size like when you open up your website.
