Need measurements... 2nd gen 4Runner

Can some one with a bone stock 4Runner measure the travel in the front suspension?? I want the height from the center of the fender opening to the top of the tire while sitting flat on the ground, then the same measurement of one wheel being lifted (you need to jack on the frame beind the suspension, not the crossmember in front of the control arm) and give the the same measurement with the tire off the ground.. I am mostly looking for how much space there is between the 2 measurements not the number itself..

Thanks, I am trying to see how much my truck gained in drop from bone stock..

PS.. Please no cranked torsion bars....

LowProfile bumpstops installed on the Passenger Side but not on Drivers due to time constraits involving my immunology and java scripting tests coming up. And finals.....so take the measurements for what they are worth. Also polyurethane bushings installed on stock swaybar.

On the ground

Driver's side ---13.5
Passenger -----13.75

Off the ground

Driver's side ---16
Passenger -----15.75

Travel

Driver 2.5"
Passenger 2.0"

No that's jacking up the whole front end off of the ground with the swaybar connected.

CRAP! I reread your post and you did specify ONE wheel at a time. brb

ok just did one wheel at a time and got the same exact measurements as lifting the whole front end....

16 and 15.75

EDIT - crap again! I need to read more carefully, those measurements are from the top of the RIM not the top of hte tire. This is the direct by product of me studying hard core for my tests coming up.... Im doing this in my study break

Correct me if Im wrong, but the travel of the wheel wont change depending on where you measured from ( ie: top of the tire/top of the rim ) The only thing that would change is the length of the initial measurement, not the suspension travel. Hope that made sense.

(that's why I posted this...)

Gee, I am pretty dissapointed with that.. But can someone explain why there is more travel on the stock side than the side with the low-profile bump stops???

I will post my results when I do mine.. BTW, I noticed on my rig that the shocks needed about 1/4 ->1/2" of added down travel added in the form of washers otherwise the truck suspension would not bottom out..

That's also why i didnt go out and remeasure a 3rd time, you needed the travel - but it was the point of missing the directions - I usaully follow em to a t.

I have NO idea why my lowpro bump side would have less travel.....that is REALLY wierd. :xmas11: Im going to install the low pros on the other side on wednesday and repost back if anything changed.

When you have the weight off the wheel, is your upper bump stop being pushed heaivly on by the upper control arm?? I would love to see those again with the shock disconnected...

btw, those are the same shocks I am running and at full drop, the new shocks were about 1/4" from touching the bottom of the upper shock mount.. I had to shim it down with washers.

Well, before I swapped out the stock bump stops, I disconnected the shocks. The shock did not limit down travel of the control arms. With the shock disconnected, the driver's side control arms still dropped to only 16".

Incidentally, I installed the lowprofile bump stops on that side and remeasured. On down travel there was NO change from stock! Up-travel would be radically different I think....
