belt noise in wet conditions?

All,

I drive 96 4 runner and ever since I drove it on wet sandy beach
( I don't know if it was the cause or just a coincidence)
When the air is wet (when it rains or just muggy) I hear whining/whisting noise that I am pretty sure comes from
the belts (alternator, fan, steering)
any idea what might be causing it and how I can fix it?
(short of replacing the belts, that BTW look pretty good and tight). or may be it's some bearings that hold the belts...?
Years ago I complaned to Toyota dealer and they sprayed the belts with something and it was better for a while.
Don't know what they used..?

Leon

Belt dressing or a very light dusting spray of wd40 will tell you if its the belts. they may be getting dry and squealing, if so replace them/it and keep the old as a trail spair

WD40 works well!!
