22 RE misfire

1989 xtra cab 4x4 22 RE 5 spd. OK I have a no load misfire from idle to about 3,000 rpm. The strange part is that it only occurs when the engine is completely warmed up. When the engine is cold I can not feel or hear the miss. The misfire can not be felt while driving. thanks

Sounds exactly like my problem with a 3vze V6. I think I've tracked it down to the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)...is yours showing any codes on the ECU?

The light is not on. Do I need to check the ECU with a reader or just the wire technique?

Question.
If the check engine light is off.
Will your computer still show a code if something is wrong?

I know a friend with a 93 22re. It's kinda sluggish sometimes under 3000 or not at WOT. No check engine light. Brand new rebuild.

Mine was doing the same thing. diagnosed for a couple months. Turned out to be the EGR, made a cut off plate and gasket so its sandwiched. No more miss. When I got an extra pocket for of cash I'll replace or when I find a good used one.

thanx.

I'll try that. Personally I'm a believer of blockoff plates :o)

So prob nothing to do with MAF or TPS so don't waste my time and his money?
