Hey all,
Does anybody know if the Japanese Hilux/Surf parts fit our US 2nd gen 4Runners? Are they the same truck? I want to put on some clear tail lights on my truck, but have not been able to find any that fit the 1994 4Runners, but have found some for the Hilux/Surf trucks in Japan.

The 2gen 4runner and hilux surf are identical vehicles built on the same assembly line in Tarhana Japan except for some minor differences in available paint colours and interior fabrics and of course legally required light colours ie solid orange front corners for JDM market clear with orange reflector for export market [ie NA] and the mirror on the fender. That all being said the lights are almost definitely a direct replacement fit for yours now. The one thing you need to check though [a look at the picture of the part should do] is that the trucks are the same body style, since Toyota releases different models on different schedules in different markets ie japan may have had the 3rd gen one model year before it was released here and so forth.
As a general rule until the tacoma [NA market only] came out virtually all models where more or less the same world wide except for available engines and options.
