SAS leaf question help please!

I am doing a axle swap on my 98 tacoma and have some questions for you guys. I have a wagoneer d44, hi steer, locked, geared etc. but can't figure out what leafs to run. I have some rancho 44044's that alot of people run but i have a little reg. cab 4 cyl. and am only going to roll 35's. I know the rancho's will be too much spring for my application cause i've seen similar trucks clear 37's on the 44044's and still be incredibly too tall for trails. Can I pull leafs out of the pack and if so which ones? I've also heard people using stock waggy 7 leafs and having okay results with those. What has worked for you guys and what would you recommend?
Thanks a bunch,
Jamie

I had the 44044's on mine and it ended up pretty tall, but I also could have made the hangers a little closer to the frame which would have helped. I now have a hybrid pack. The 44044's are just a lift spring for a grand wagoneer. I debated just going to the waggy stock leafs to lower mine, but the main leaf is weak mostly because the second leaf doesn't wrap. On the 44044's the second leaf wraps around the first, so I used the main & second from the 44044's for strength and I used the lower 5 leafs from the stock pack. It put me about 2.5-3" lower then with the 44044's and is a smoother ride.

Hell yeah good idea Jeff. Do you have any pics of your ride height w/the "hybrid" leaf pack.

Here is a previous thread.

I also have a body lift and large hangers so in reality you can get it about 2-3" lower than I am right now.

Your before and after front shots are awesome. Seeing how much it changed the angle of the drag link, it is obvious it dropped it down a good deal. Are those 35's or 37's?

I noticed u did the chevy 63" leaf swap. I did that a while back, you say you had to pull the blocks out to lower the rear back down so are you running any lifting things in the rear other than the springs themselves to keep it level w/the front? I run just the 2wd 63" in the rear minus overload and it gave me about 4" but I was thinking I'll need to do an aal or longer shackle to equal the fronts after sas.

I am running a 1" block with 4" shackles. if I did 6" shckles I wouldn't need a block at all.
