Which window would you break?

 

I wouldn't, I'd reach into my wallet
I keep a spare in there as well as a house key.

But if I had to, I'd do the right rear seat one, the small one, and reach inside and trip the lock.

Also, there is a way to roll down the rear window on all 4Runners, but for security reasons I don't want to mention it on here.

swim trunks, that window cost me $25 from a salvage yard. the rear quarterpanel window is $125 just for curiosity sake.

So far the conversion has been about 4Runners...

but being the forgetful type, I've had a few 'incidents' with my vehicle.

It's probably obvious which window is most vulnerable on an XtraCab, altough it's more that latching mechanism than the glass itself.
Mine was broken by the previous owner so I wasn't too concerned anyway.
Toyota has these latches new at AUD$60

As many people probably already know, 2nd gen vehicles were the first lot to be built with protection around the locking mechanisms.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about the entire range?

Just to boost the thread...
Does anyone keep a spare key under their vehicle?
Has anyone soaked their alarm remote? what about disabling the alarm?

 

May be easier for you being in Australia but for me, being in SoCal with a pic of my truck and my location... even if I did carry a spare key under my truck, I'd be the only person to know. Wouldn't want to risk some lurker messing with the guts of my baby.

Back when I had a Camry, I once went out to the local tidepools and fell in. As you know salt water and circuit boards... not good bedfellows. I didn't know anything about my alarm at the time and just drove all the way (10 miles) home with my alarm blaring.

Been there, why break a window when the Toy locks are so freakin' easy to pick?

 

hehe Yeah I don't keep a spare under the truck either... really, I don't...
It seems whenever someone needs it, it's fallen off!

I once went swimming (so to speak) with someone else's car remote... simply came back to the vehicle, pulled the alarm fuse and away we went

 

I also keep a spare key in my wallet.

 

Or forgotten... I found a hide-a-key on my truck from the previous owner when I dropped the gas tank a few years ago to do some welding. Bigass clump of dirt fell out and it was in there.

 

Spare key in the wallet...only way to go. Makes it handy when I want to warm up the truck and still be able to lock the house when I head out.

Locked my keys in Yoda once at the top of Hansen creek. Since the landcruiser has those footwell vents, I opened one of them and used a loooooong forked stick to wriggle the key chain out of the ign and then opened the door.
About a 7 mile walk to the highway if I couldn't get it. whew!

i have a friend who used to have a '78 pickup. one day, me and him both drove our trucks somewhere, and he ended up locking his keys in. so, after a bit of thinking, i pulled out the keys from my '84, and tried them on his door

they worked

after the door opened, i tried the key in the ignition, where the truck promptly started

 

that's CRAZY
