I need to get an Air Intake Hose/Tube for my 1990 4Runner (V6) and the local shop (only Toyota parts outlet) wants $72 for it. That seems high for a stinkin hose, but most places I have found online have it for about the same price, even aftermarket.

Does anyone have a great place for fair deals online for 2G Runners?

Part number is 17881-65011, and I would like to get a new one. I found one on Ebay that's used, but in good condition, so I'll buy it for now because mine is cracked and I think that's why I was smelling gas in my cab (for those that responded to my other post)

strap22 and northridgetoyota seem to be the best

 

never used it for toyta parts, but what ive gotten for the datsun was excellent mr-auto-parts.com

 

Doesn't look like strap22 has any, and northridgetoyota only offers parts from 1995 and up. I filled out the request form, so maybe they can help me. mr-auto-parts.com doesn't have it either.

Guess I might be stuck with the $72 one from Toyota.

I found they have fair prices and are helpful. They definetly go back farther than '95 also.

 

Did you talk with Phil or Jacque? I'd be suprised if they told you they didn't have them. Some of my parts look like they get shipped from the Toyota warehouse.

In the alternative you might check out Cootees ISR. It replaces all of those very expensive OEM hoses for less than the cost of one of them.

 

Sounds like a good time to do the ISR mod.

That's the ticket! If you don't mind not going OEM, a little trimming of the ISR tube to fit perfectly between your AFM and your throttle body, a mild increase in noise, and a little more hassle getting the oil dipstick out then the ISR is for you. There are other manufacturers and you can fab it yourself if your so inclined. Otherwise, go with the OEM parts suppliers mentioned. They show great support for the YT community.

 

I have the air intake tube that comes off the throttle body, that connects to a little black plastic box (not so technical name) and then from there I have an air cleaner hose that is sort of an S shape with two openings on the end, one that connects to my AFM, and another smaller opening that connects to a plastic box just below that.

My question is that from the pics I have seen from this ISR mod, I don't see where that second smaller opening would connect to.

Okay, that was about as cool of a thing anyone has ever sent me. If you can't figure it out from THAT, you won't get it. Man that is cool, I'll give it a try. Whoever it is that set that page up is a genious, any question you might have is answered.

I am not a mechanic either, but know enough that if someone shows me how to do it, I'm good. I replaced the axle/cv joints on my truck when I first got it, also changed the head gasket, plenum, etc.

Now I am debating taking on the task of changing the Master Seal, which is leaking! My dad and brother are both mechanics (dad's retired) so I have that avenue as well.

I just can't justify paying $700 to a shop to change a $20 seal on my truck, I'm cheap that way!
