I found a VERY cheap and easy way to store my 3 "C" Cell Maglite within easy reach in my truck. Check it out:


It snaps right into place within the mounting bracket for my front seat, is in tightly enough not to rattle out (even while 'wheeling) and does not hinder movement of the seat. I was actually getting ready to screw the Maglite holders into the floor beneath my seat when I saw that the Mag might fit in there, and badda-bing! It worked.

I know this works for 01-03 Tacomas. Whether or not it will work for earlier or later Tacos or 4runners, I don't know. It's worth checking out if you have a 3C Maglite.

 

Thats a great idea! I ended up buying the rubber tie down mounts for mine and it's easy to get to and out of the way. Mounted my fire extinguisher

You know, if you wanted to, you could get a Mag and put it where I did, only use it as a "theft deterrent device": one or two shots upside the head with 3C Mag would make a would-be carjacker seriously rethink his profession....

 

I'll be mounting my fire extinguisher (when I get around to it) on my toolbox in the back of the truck. Nothing worse than needing an extinguisher and then having to scramble with keys or whatever to get to it.

Everyone should have a good maglite secured and within reach.

 

I have mine in the glove box. Thats the cheapest way to go...but not the best

 

Good ideas! I thought of mounting an extinguisher on my tool box but wasn't sure how it would hold up in the 100 degree hit we get in the summer and the cold temps in the winter.
The problem I have always had with mag lights is the batteries seems to go dead real quick in the cold even when it's not being used. It's like the metal casing gets to cold and drains or effects the batteries in some way.
The lightforce I have in there now is a great flashlight that will last forever and I love the light it gives off. It wasn't cheap but it was a gift from my wife a few years ago. You just can't seem to hurt this thing at all,Lol. Mike

 

i have mine mounted to the passenger side of the shifter consule. Its nice there, plus it keeps my area open. The wifeasaurus likes it. she used it to read sometimes.

 

I keep mine stuck between the center console and passenger seat. It is nice and secure and easily within reach if needed.

 

i just put mine behind my seat in the built in "map" area on the back. in the taco i'll probably get the clips though, looks kinda cool and also very handy and doesn't stretch out the fabric behind my seat.

 

Same here. It's almost like that spot was made for a Mag-Lite.

Not trying to tell anyone what to do here but just a suggestion. You really should have anything in your cab fastened down really tight and secure. One of the biggest causes of injuries is from things flying around during a wreck. A hard impact or roll over can turn that flashlight into a missile. If you use the Mag-light clamps just make sure it's really tight, that's why I like the rubber tie down mounts. Mike

Seriously, good point. I did think about that with my Mag, but because of it's location, and how secure it is in there, I'm pretty sure it would be ok. Of course, if I wreck my truck, I'll be sure to update this thread...

 

I mounted mine with some universal spring release clips on the passenger side of the console. Isn't the prettiest mount, but it does the trick.

 

Ebay also has accessory kits for the 3C mag which are pretty cool. I got one that had a non-roll rubber lens protector, blue/red/clear spare lenses, and screws and clamps for mounting the Mag...all for about $12 shipped.

 

Lol! That's the only reason anyone should have a C MagLite...those things are obsolete! My Streamlight Scorpion is a tenth the size, and it's brighter, lighter, and lasts longer. When it comes to defense, I use my ASP collapsible tactical police baton.

 

Ah, see that's why the Mag is so handy- put in a Xenon bulb, then you can blind em, and then thump 'em!

 

It does kill two birds with one stone...lol
