I am considering painting my Limited five star wheels. I have never done something like this before, and a mistake could be expensive.

1. What is the best prep/procedure method?
2. What paint brand is best?
3. What color most closely matches the Limited five star color?

I have new tires waiting at the shop, and I'd like to get these painted up before hand as they will be much easier to manuever and take up less space without the tires mounted.

I painted mine with duplicolor wheel paint, it dries quick, really easy to use.

Not beat to snot, but they're not perfect. I traded my Pro Comps for these Limited wheels with a fellow member. There is some clear coat peeling off two of the wheels (presumably these were on the front). I did specifically ask the PO about their condition prior to the trade, but I just don't think the PO saw it [through the dirt on the wheels] or didn't know what they were looking at/for.

My 4Runner is a street queen...the worst it sees is the county landfill or the beaches of OBX.

check out the por-15 site, I recall they have a alloy wheel refinishing kit, with stripper to remove the clear coat, polishing compound, and super hard clear to re-paint them. Could be a really tough nice finish.
