how is your ipod mounted in your truck?

alright, so i just purchased a 60 gig ipod video, and i want a better way to have it in the truck other than just sitting it on the passenger seat. i'd like to have something that mounts right around the center console (right by the E brake) so that when my arm is resting on the center console, i can have it right there (lazy people like ergonomics )

so, for those ipod users, how do you have it mounted in the car? (other than on the passenger seat of course

thanks

Mark

i have mine mounted right next to my interior lights dimmer. my iTrip, which is not a griffen, its the square one from apple store, it came with a holder for the itrip which it just slides into holding the ipod at the same time.

I have mine connected to my HU via an adapter wire that plugs into the back of the HU and into the headphone jack on the ipod. I usually just let it sit in the square "storage" space underneath the e-brake.

i'm doing the same thing as you msw....but i came up with an idea

there's an ipod cradle sold by Pro Clip Usa for my ipod (they have the same one for almost every specific model)

Link to Product

so, here's what i think i might do:

mount the L bracket on the console here (of course i'll clean it up, paint it, and trim it down to a smaller size)

and mount the cradle to the L bracket.
here's a picture of the cradle:

and here's a pic of the mounting bracket on it:

so, the cable i have connects to the bottom dock connector and goes straight to the back of my radio. It also has a provision for charging the ipod when connected, all i need is a switched 12v souce and a ground.
Ipod car Cable

let me know what you guys think

yeah, i use it. it's great, keep the ipod in a convenient, out-of-the-way location.

i use the tape connection, so that plugs into the flexible dock, and the dock plugs into the cigarette lighter.

my alpine dvd unit has an ipod port deal so i have my ipod in my center counsel in that small top part in a custom holder. it then runs from there into the ipod box under my seat, to the alpine brain, then to the head unit

there is this small place after the shifter, but before the cup holders, and i have a clear silicone case for it, and it sticks to the plastic console, and doesn't move around. i didn't need to mount it because it sorta stays in place.

I use an adapter made by Enfig Car Stereo that connects to the rear of the factory head unit via the CD Changer port. Works great and charges the iPod while you are using it.

I don't have a secure mounting spot though, i just use one of the cup holders for now.

I tried the Ten Technology Flex Dock but returned it because all three cigarette lighters are loosely mounted in the dash (from the factory) and it flopped around with the weight of the IPOD. I have a Belkin leather flip case which I flip open, push the lid into the forward cup holder--puts it at the right angle for viewing and it rides well there.

I had that problem a bit, not too bad tho. Some superglue fixed it.

I have a Pioneer headunit with their proprietary adapter so my iPod sits out of sight while I use the headunit to control it.

Mine just sits in the front cup holder since I like to be able to pick it up and look at the screen easily but a more permanent mount would be nice.

opps, sorry, wrong link,....

So I can place mine anywhere in the truck and the transmission signal is great. I usually just put it in the center cup holder.
