Chevy wheels on a 1st gen 4Runner?

Hello- I want to get some 235/85-16s on my 88 4Runner. I have been looking for the "plainest" wheels possible. I found some 16x7 6 lug stock Chevy wheels on Ebay that I want. They are the plain kind that are supposed to have hubcaps. I guess my question is- will the lug pattern fit (I think the 4Runner has 6 on 5.5)? And does anybody know if the backspacing will be ok on my truck? I have included a picture of the wheels. Thanks!
-Marty
* Or is this too much hastle and would I just be better off getting 31x10.50-15 ?

i tried to fit Chevy Tahoe wheels on a Hilux and although the lug pattern was the same, the front hub would not fit through the center hole of these wheels.

I am actually running chevy rims on my big tires. The stock Chevy center hole is 3.5" while for a toyota you need a 4".

I looked real close at the rims before I bought mine (again, super plain jane steelies), and there was an extra lip of metal with no real sturctural reason for being there. It took me about 3 hrs with a grinder to make all 5 rims fit, but it was well worth it. $100 for 5 chevy steelies, or $300 for Toyota's.

I got some basic rims from an isuzu trooper at a junk yard with tires, for $20 piece. Try your local pick and pull.

If you search at junk yards, keep in mind that old J**p Wagon**r or Honcho steelies will also fit Toyota.

toyota used the same 6x5.5 bolt pattern as fullsize jeeps and chevies, as well as most japanese trucks(chevy luv, isuzu, nissan etc). just make sure the backspacing is right and the center hole is big enough.

The spare on my Runner is from a FSJ and it won't fit over the hub on the front, or even the axle flange on the rear. It needs the same thing done as the Chevys regarding removing steel from the center.

i think im gonna get the chevy wheels

Thanks everyone. I think I'm gonna get the wheels (they're super cheap) and just torch/grind out the extra metal in the center to fit over my hubs. Anyone think that will be dangerous as long as I don't cut any more than the thinner metal in the very center?

I think a lot of regular Chevy rims have a 4" back spacing (mine do at least).

Don't torch - the heat will be a problem. Be very careful with the grinder, even, to avoid heat buildup. My recommendation would be something like a hole saw. Put a piece of wood behind the rim for the arbor to go into to keep the hole saw centered and stable.
