what insurance do you have?

I find that most insurance carriers don't list the FJ. Mine Liberty Mutual wants $1650 per year. There stating is as high as the Jeep wrangler, unlike a 4runner for $1200 per year.

I have Travellers, and I am paying about $1152 or so a year (liability, since it is cheap from my accident and all) with one accident on there. Quite pricey if you ask me.

I'm assuming rates then are regional. I'm accident free with no violations for over 20 years, and still I'm being quoted between $1600 & $1800 here in Pennsylvania.

rates are very regional, sometime by county line... When I moved from seattle to idaho at 19, my insurance went from 3K/year under my parents policy to 1000/year with my own...that was in 1999, on a '99 ford ranger...i loved that truck, it made me a true toyota fan :-)

Wow, I was quoted $2,400 a year thorugh Geico with full coverage.
That could change with a VIN #.
They know nothing about the rig yet, and with crash tests coming out later, it could go up or down.

I am also ticket and accident free.

They are, and of course it depends on the value of your vehicle, as well. In the Democratic People's Republic of MD, you are required to carry certain minimums of insurance. If your vehicle costs more than the minimum then you have to carry the value of the vehicle. (IE: car costs $45K, and the state min for property damage is $20K. You have to cover $45k.)

Also, insurance agencies can offer different rates according to your FICO credit score. If you have bad credit, you can get a higher rate.

Lastly, regional differences are HUGE. Baltimore City, with the case of a friend who's backyard is the city line literally, Baltimore County are drastically different. People one block away from him pay less because they don't live in the City. And the FBI Uniform Crime Stats for auto-theft determine rates as well- it was cheaper for me to register my truck at my folks house than my apartment. By $250-300 a year.

Those insurance rates are nuts! I am on a multi-car/driver policy, but full coverage on my tacoma is only $80 a month in an Atlanta suburb, and I don't even have a spotless record and am only 22.

The only thing I can recommend to lessen the cost of insurance is to not live in Colorado! Plus, with USAA insurance, I get annual dividends paid back to me...nice perk.

Actually my dad's, but yes. I am listed as the driver on my truck so the only discount I get is the 15% for a multi-car policy.

Does anyone know of a web-site that shows the difference in rates around the country? That would be interesting to see. I will say that insurance in my area seems to be relatively low, it seems odd for a town that has some of the worst traffic in the country.

Try getting insurance on your own, on your own rig, you will probally see that price SOAR!!

Now for a 03 runner and a 92 P/U, me and my wife full coverage is only 120/mo..

I pay $2800 a year for full coverage on my Tacoma and I've been accident free with only a +18 speeding ticket. I was paying $3600 dollars a year when I first got my truck. I guess Liberty Mutual is aware that Californians drive like idiots.

Actually, for my wife and I on our own policy it was $1200 every 6 months through Farmers for both cars, our Lexus Rx300 and my truck, it wasn't nearly as high as i expected given our age and driving records. But since neither insurance company cared (our agents said "don't ask, don't tell," just pay the renewal every 6 months) we stayed on our respective policies and saved ourselves the extra money. I think my wife's wreck drops off this year, so hopefully her insurance should drop again. It would also be nice to take advantage of the marriage discount since we are both under 25.

Like I said, insurance rates seem to be relatively low in the Atlanta area.

Now if you want to talk motorcycles, that is another story. When I got my streetbike at 18 Progressive wanted $6400 a year for full coverage!!!

My insurance dropped a lot when I settled down and turned 18, my parents used to keep me insured on a beater truck with liability only to keep the rates down, however, getting "older" and slowing down a little really helped keep more money in my pockets.
