Engine Hesitation, whats happening?

Running fine, then pulled off to have some fun in the mud, pretty bumpy (harsh bumps) and a few puddles. Played for about 3min, then pulled back on road. Now the truck hesitates when under any more load than about half throttle. I got on the freeway fine, felt a little less power. It would get up to speed fine and hold any rpm smoothly, but when i push the throttle down, i'd feel some jerkiness to the acceleration. Every now ant then it would cut out and drop the rpm 300-400 then return to normal. Definitely only under load. Seemed to have gotten slightly better after 10min, but still there. I popped the hood and nothing really got wet, distributor/filter/wires all stayed dry.

What the heck is going on??

feels worst when starting out in first gear, then its fine for the rest of first, also when at a low speed but in a high gear so its kinda lugging, hesitates badly.

Are you sure some water did not get by your air filter? Maybe it had dried out by the time you looked at it? How is it now that it has sat overnight?

not water in filter, i checked and it was completely dry. next morning, not quite as bad, but still hesitating bigtime. I was able to make a 200 trip home so any water anywhere had to be evaporated. still doing it. worse when cold.

i picked up a cap/rotor, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and some seafoam. i'll give all that a whirl tomorrow morning and see what happens.

Could have just been a coincidince....

I was out wheeling one day, and at the same time my exhaust wraped around my axle, and my cap/rotor melted. I thought it wouldnt start because of the exhaust being clamped shut, so I had my buddy pull it straight with his truck and removed it at the cat...still wouldnt start. Started playing around, I was getting fuel, and no spark.. So I took the cap off, FUGLY... It was just weird that I did both at the same time.
