Washington Area Run, April 12th

Okay Folks,

I've got the wheelin' fever, and am ready for another run- nothing too extreme for us mostly-stock vehicles! I'm open to suggestions for locations. Possibly Tinkham Rd. for a smaller number of vehicles that would like to do some exploring/mapping out of untried trails, routes. However, if there's a large response, maybe Reiter or other locations would have to be an option. Replies with suggestions for locations are welcome!

Sounds like a great idea to me. Where is Tinkham Rd located?

~30 minutes east of Seattle, off I-90. A few members of this board (including myself) did a run there a couple weeks ago. Read the thread to get some of the details and pictures from that run. I think we ended up with about 9 rigs, several that were pretty stock. There were a few trails that haven't been tried out, so I was thinking about getting some maps of the area, maybe detailing what each trail was like for future reference. JRUZ, another member, picked up some of these maps, and gave me this idea.

I think the Faith Wheelers may be up for a run about then. I've not been to the Tinnkham road area. We are planning a harder core trip for the last Saturday of April of first Saturday of March. We need a milder run sometime soon.

My dual t-case package is almost ready to install. Rock piles, look out!

When a group of us did Tinkham a couples weeks ago, we managed one trail for a while before getting stopped by snow. We dropped back down to lower elevation and fooled around on a couple of trails, but there were plenty that would have been interesting to check out. I haven't tried Tahuya before- is it pretty tough?

Tahuya is not a very tough trail, which makes it fun for most. There's minimal risk of body damage, other than some pin striping, no severe off camber sections (unless you follow me ) and it's suitable for a lot of larger rigs.

Here a trip report on Tahuya.

Tahuya is pretty cool. It is a real maze! The real challenge is trying to get out of there at the end of the day! It is a lot of fun there. I went up there last on the TTORA run, and I totalled my Smittybuilt nerf bars. I have Badlands Bumpers armor all around now.

I just got my Badland sliderz welded on last Friday, and haven't had a chance to "test" them yet. I'm hoping to get my lift done by the time of this run, but no gaurantees on finding the time to get around to it.

I'm down for where ever you decide to go. I'm getting the camping fever, and might just camp that weekend depending on where the final destination is going to be.

Hey Salue,

Glad to hear you'll be coming along. I've been getting the camping itch as well, but its still pretty chilly at night. I don't know if I could convince the GF to spend the night outside just yet...

Reiter Pit

A few of us will be going to Reiter Pit on the 6th (sunday) of April. We are meeting at the KFC in Monroe at 830 am (yeah its early). Lemme know if anyone wants to go. Check out my post on the reiter run for more info. Lotsa fun, so show up and run!
If you cant make it there by 830, we will be tooling around the power lines for the first 2 hours, so we will be on CB channel 4. Talk to us if ya show up! See ya'll there.

Sounds like everyone wants to get out, now that the weather is getting nice! I can't do saturday, I've got to install my CB antenna so I can toss the magnetic mounted one. Sunday is a possibility, but I'm definitely still on for the 12th for whomever is interested. DeathCougar has a specific meeting place/time for the 6th, so maybe I'll see you guys there on Sunday.

Okay, things are getting a little confusing now, since we've got three runs going on this thread:

1) Possible Tahuya run on Sat., April 5th, with Seafarinman. Time? Place to meet? I won't be at this run.

2) Reiter Pit Run Sunday, April 6th, 8:30 meet in Monroe. See DeathCougar's posts for more information about this trip. I may try to make this one.

3) April 12th run- Lets say Tahuya- never been there, but sounds like stock rigs can handle it. Meet at 9:30 AM, someone who's been there before will have to suggest a meeting spot, I don't have a clue about that area.

Okay guys here is the haps:
To get to Tahuya State forest,
-If you are coming from Seattle:
-Take the ferry to Bremerton
-When you get to Bremerton head south on SR16 to Gorst, and take the right turnoff to Belfair.
-Meet at the Safeway at 10am.

From Tacoma for 1 Wicked Runner or anyone out that way:
-Take SR 16 north to Gorst
-take the left exit to Belfair
-Meet at the Safeway at 10am.

I usually guard CB channel 19 but most usually go to channel 4 (We can go CH 4 on either.) Most of the guys these days have a CB or FRS radio. I have a GMRS/FRS and CB so I can talk on both.
