Correct idle RPM for 22RE

just purchased a '93 yota 4x4 and am currious about the idle. It seems to be idling at too high of an RPM - it's around 1,200 - 1,400 at idle. Any insight into what the proper idle speed should be?

Thanks much,

Josh

My 85 and 87 both idle at 1000 rpm...with the AC on, the 87 a tad higher, but not much, maybe 1200 rpms max.

Mine is at about 700, but I am going to bump it up a bit. My alternator kicks off at 650rpm, even with a 100amp kit and a smaller pulley...

The manual calls for 750-950 RPM. 750 is a tad rough so I set mine at 800. Anything over 950 and you get problems with a fluctuating idle (usually with the bakes applied) because the computer is trying lower the RPM's and lean out the fuel mixture. Toyota programmed this as "deceleration fuel cut-off." Saves gas and lowers emissions.
