FJC comes with no locking gas door?
I read either over on 'Mud or another new FJ Cruiser forum that the new FJ does not have a locking gas door.
What is up with that?
My old junk '91 4Runner has one, so should the FJ.
In the thread it said to look up FJ Cruiser locking gas cap on Ebay, and sure enough I got one hit back.
Not sure if the dealers carry this yet or not, but I think it would be a good idea for any new FJC owner to get a locking cap if they park outside a lot.
Can someone confirm if the door locks or not.
Can not really tell by the picture here, but I do see a black metal item on the left of the door that could be a lock.

Bummer, I be in a high prowl area, so I guess the cap would be good insurance.
I would be more worried though about sugar or some other substance getting dumped in there than someone stealing a few gallons of gas from me.

Nope, you guy's are misreading my post.
I know that is a locking cap there, it is an aftermarket one from the Ebay auction.
I am talking about if the door is locked all the time until you pull a cable down by the hood release, much like on my '91 4Runner.

I asked one of the traveling FJ trainers at the auto show about lack of a locking door. He said it was deleted from focus group input. No locking door or cap standard. Maybe the suicide door arrangement prohibits floor mounted controls like the door release cable?

My dealer also told me to be weary of this cap when I called them up today.
Many caps do not seal right and vent, thus leading to the little CEL to come on your dash and bug the crap out of you.
Toyota does not have a cap, but he said to call the main Toyota site up and demand one be produced since there is no way to protect your gas from being stolen, ect..

Just an update, the Stant 11504 locking gas cap is what a lot of users are using from reading on the 'Net.
http://www.stant.com/index.cfm?location_id=170
The 11504 is the one for the 2004 Tacoma, and it seals well, no check engine light will result from using it.
From Stant's site, is says:
Regular Locking Fuel Cap 10504
I do not know why it says that, as I just bought the 11504 today at Schuck's Auto, and it said to use the 11504 one.
They could be the same, who knows.

I do not think any Toyota dealer sells the Stant brand.
You have to get them from an auto parts store.
Unless Toyota has their own for the 2004 Tacoma, then it should work.
Mine has been on since July 24th day one, no snafus.
