spare tire tools and jack location
#4
It is funny that somone else fell into this problem. When I bought my Runner I actually took it back to the dealership to complain that there were no tire change tools in the back pasenger side wall box. The salesman gets a s$%^ eating grin on his face and shows me that they are under the back seat.
So don't feel too bad. I bet lots of us have done this.

ec,
the next problem you'll probably have is "how do i get that darn thing in?!!" it took me a few minute to realize that it goes in at a slight angle.
...didn't our old pal BBB have a writeup on this??!?

Yup, exact same thing happened to me a couple months ago when I first bought my 98. I called up the dealer and complained how they sold me a Runner w/o a jack or any of the tools. Luckily the guy I bought my brushguard told me exacty where they were. I'm just glad I didnt go back to the dealership and start in on getting me new tools.

The factory jack won't even touch the frame
Not sure it was ever designed to reach the frame. I've had one flat in the 5 years of owning this 4Runner, and the bottle jack worked perfect positioned under the axle tube. The front jacking point is a circular impression in the skid plate. Larger tires and or suspension lift would require a base of some sort to get the jack high enough. At home, I never touch the stock jack, and instead use a floor jack and axle stands as needed.
