where are the spare tire tools and jack?

I can't seem to find the spare tire tools and jack on a 2000 4Runner. Where is the standard location of these things?

It is funny that somone else fell into this problem. When I bought my Runner I actually took it back to the dealership to complain that there were no tire change tools in the back pasenger side wall box. The salesman gets a s$%^ eating grin on his face and shows me that they are under the back seat.

So don't feel too bad. I bet lots of us have done this.

ec,

the next problem you'll probably have is "how do i get that darn thing in?!!" it took me a few minute to realize that it goes in at a slight angle.

...didn't our old pal BBB have a writeup on this??!?

Yup, exact same thing happened to me a couple months ago when I first bought my 98. I called up the dealer and complained how they sold me a Runner w/o a jack or any of the tools. Luckily the guy I bought my brushguard told me exacty where they were. I'm just glad I didnt go back to the dealership and start in on getting me new tools.

With my lift and tires I only use the jack for installation and removal of my coil overs by using it upside down between the upper a-arm and the inner fender. The factory jack won't even touch the frame so I use my trusty floor jack at home and Hi Lift on the trails.

Eric,
Not sure it was ever designed to reach the frame. I've had one flat in the 5 years of owning this 4Runner, and the bottle jack worked perfect positioned under the axle tube. The front jacking point is a circular impression in the skid plate. Larger tires and or suspension lift would require a base of some sort to get the jack high enough. At home, I never touch the stock jack, and instead use a floor jack and axle stands as needed.

Yes I'm sure your right about that. Just never felt comfortable with putting under a round point (axle) to jack from.
