I was looking at it today, and I thought that the coils shouldn't be touching...

These are stock Tacoma springs. Maybe I should go and get some OME's or something... Hmmm.. Just looks weird in there.

What you are seeing is called "coil bind" and it means that your suspension components are not properly matched. It most commonly happens when you attempt to lift a rig with progressive coils, but it can happen with single rate coils as well.

It IS NOT normal and means that not only are you not getting the full amount of lift you should be, you are riding around with only part of the performance you should be getting out of your coils.

If those are progressive rate springs, the fix is to swap them with single rate. If they are single rate, then you need to swap them with springs that are a better match for your suspension.

It won't really hurt anything, but it looks bad and you don't get the full benefit of your suspension.

I can't help with the beaver infestation. Try calling Winona, I hear she has a big brown one...

These are stock Tacoma 4x4 springs. I am assuming they are single rate. I wanted to least amount of lift possible with my Trailmaster kit, so I just used the stock springs. I've now learned that Tacomas use different coil springs, and that could be causing the problem...Too much weight/lift/strain on the coils!!

So Im thinking about getting some OME's or maybe just saving up for some coilovers. That would be sweet.

I do have some weird noises when going over quick bumpy areas... I think the coils tend to give a weird vibrating noise from that.
