help....replacing fuel filter on 2nd gen

so this morning im trying to replace my fuel filter.. just curious how much gas is going to hit me in the face once i disconnect the lines on either side of the old filter.

I was planning on opening my gastank to take the pressure down a little...

anyone have any other suggestions/tips/hints for me ?

Thanks

Pull the wiring harness from the fuel pump. Start your engine and let it die, crank your car over a couple of times afterward, and your lines should be relatively free of fuel.

PB blaster for sure. Loosen the gas cap to depressurize. You won't lose very much gas (maybe half a quart). You might find it easier to unbolt the crossmember for more hand room.

Unbolt it from both sides. Let it droop down (it'll be fine). The crossmember will flex enough from side to side to get your hands in there. You'll need a jack to lift it back up to reconnect it.

i just went to canadian tire and they did it for $30 canucks and i am free of any worries. Its hard to do it for our toyota here in canada coz of the rust!

I tried doing it but i gave up because i will surely break something before i will be able to replace it.

btw, i bought the fuel filter from the dealership and they want to charge me $80.00 to install so i shopped around.

I did not remove my crossmember when I changed mine. Though I did end up snapping the front fuel line because the nut had rounded out.But the new line was only $35 at the dealership and was very easy to replace.
