v6 mechanical oil pressure gauge

ok its time for me to do the head gaskets on my 88 truck but i want to convert to a mechanical oil pressure gauge. If i do that and leave the factory oil pressure gauage unplugged will i have the little oil light come on? Or is there even one on the gauge cluster? Where did everyone else mount their gauges in the cab?

All the 'idiot' lights 'should' come on briefly each time you start the engine. Just look carefully and see if one is an oil pressure light. Not sure if unplugging will show a fault.

Why not put in a T fittinf and use both. That way you would have the functioning light too. (how often do you look at the guage, but you notice the light)
