22re idle smoothness

When I got my 22re based truck, (89) I noticed the idle was horrible, absolutley teeth shattering. Intolerably so. If it was a stick shift, I know I would have had to hold it in gear. I did some work on it and it is pretty smooth, but I want to see how your 22re's idle.

How bad is/was your idle vibration?
What have you done to fix it?

I have theories about what could cause vibration:
fan out of balance
pulley not straight
tune up
motor mounts/tranny mounts

I replaced my EGR, pcv valve and grommet, plugs, wires, distributor cap, belts, hoses, and did the seafoam treatment, and timing. It shutters only a little while at a light, and oddly changes speed and vibration harmonics with the signals blinking, sometimes. I notice after a bit of driving that my brake foot left foot feels a bit tingly from sitting on the floor, so I would like it better.

How smooth can you get them? What shoudl I expect to acheive?

Mine was smooth enough that if not for the a tach I wouldn't know it was running. It was still that way at 240k right after each tuneup.

Good to know, so I do have some more investigating to find out why it shudders at all.

An update, on a really exciting thread
I have solved 99% of my shuddering engine.
I replaced nearly all my vacuum hoses, and it is much, much smoother. I didnt test any of them, just swapped them out, and viola, smooth idle.
