Replace just timing belt or do the whole kit

My first instinct was just to replace all of it since its such a PIA but now Im hearing that the other stuff rarely if ever goes bad (tensioner, tensioner spring, idler pulley, etc...) What do you all think.

Also Im thinking very seriously about having it done, Im finishing my sas this week and dont feel like staring another big project. (escpecially one as un fun and frusterating as water pump and timing belt) Plus the local firestone quoted me $350 parts and labor!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS CHEAP. I just want to drive the thing now!

I am not sure what engine you have in your 92, but I have replaced the timing belt in my 89 V6 twice and have not touched the other pulleys etc and it is all fine. Just buy the belt... ~$70.

On a V6 and if it is your first time, I would give it 6 hours start to finish. After you have done it once or twice, 2-3 hours. On a 4, I wouldn't know.

Also, you don't have to remove the radiator unless your puller wont fit.

Good luck.

V6, I know how to do it but Ive put 150hrs in 3weeks into this thing and am burned out plus its going to be in the single digits this weekend.

It will save me $100 if dont do the kit.
