Is the bulb actually turning on and off, or is the indicator just going crazy? Sounds like a short in the wiring to the turn signal in question. (At least that's what caused it for me when I was rewiring for my TJM...)

The bulb is actually turning on and off. Fast blink turning left, normal blink turning right.

I've seen this happen when someone puts the wrong replacement bulb in. If you didn't recently have a bulb replaced, check the bulb sockets for corrosion. It will be one of the turn signal sockets on the side that is acting up and if you have a towing package, check the receiver socket by the hitch. Don't fret as the sockets can be bought new at the auto parts store.

I remember seeing something a while back that there might have been a few bulbs in the same circuit (ie not just the turn signals). Check all the rest of the bulbs and see if there are any others out and if so change them.

new bulb solved the problem. Looked like the old one was burned out, chalky white etc., but it still worked. I wonder if this old bulb, which shipped with my clear signal covers, was a dual filament?

Thanks for the suggestions folks. yotatech, as dependable as ever.
