my little brother got a wire welder for chistmas so he and i decided to make some sliders. it took alot more work than i expected, if i were to do it over again i would pay for some already made. the material cost around 80 dollars not including the paint and the beers. well here is the finished product. let me know what you guys think. my brother might start producing these to sell. btw the bars are .25 in sidewalls super burly.

hey man nice work! i really dig the way they look. Im in the process of getting some sliders...and it got me thinking. After looking at all the designs available, i found that they all might "stick out" too much, even prodtrude further than the stock limited boards.

after i tossed my running boards, i just loved how much easier it was to get in and out of! So im now looking to get some custom made and yours look pretty low profile, yet offer enough ledge to aid in step in. how far apart are your bars? Measurements ive collected so far is that the main and outer bar centers woulnt be over 5 to 5.5" apart...are yours about the same? and whats holding the bar ends together? is that plate i see?

anyway...props to you n your bro. if you plan on producing for sale..lemme know!

 

I agree with you dOubledown. I like the sleak look. I really like the sliders that tuck right under the rocker panels and dont stick out. I might try and fab up a set that blend in.

Exactly what I said after finishing mine. Fabricating doesn't really look that hard untill you accually fab something.

 

thanks guys. the project took probably about 8 hours since this is the first time we have ever made any sliders. the ends are .25 plate steel, and the main bars are 4 inches apart. now onto the next project, skid plates i think.

 

my brother said he will produce them primered for 200 dollars plus shipping. i told him hes nuts. way to much work..

 

you need to shave the bottom of your 4runner

 

you guys say you want the sliders not to stick out.....trust me, you want them at leas as far out as your door panel.

Boy aint that the truth.

The wider they stick out the easier it is to place them on rocks to pivot if necessary.

It's all about keeping distance from body panels from rocks, trees, and various other crap.


Those sliders look pretty sweet though, I must say. Nice work!

i like the sliders, very nice.

but i must agree with post 12 and 13 as ive had experience in all of what theyre talking about. its VERY nice to have a slider that sticks out far so you can put the hi-lift on it, and its also VERY nice not to dent you door while leaned up against a tree (bad day); however the sliders saved the 4runners doors
