Automatic transmission dipstick 3vz

1994 4Runner 3vz

What can prevent the transmission dipstick from being pushed back in?

Can I drive without the the dipstick?

I have this problem every time I check the level. This time it does not want to be pushed back into the tube.

Thanks for any assistance ...

i usually have to twist mine round a bit to get it to go in that last little bit.

can you drive without a dipstick? yes, and no.

you dont have to have a mettal stick shoved down the hole, but you probibly want to cap the tube so you dont get crap down into the trans.

so get an extra dip stick and cut the end off and use it to cap the tube.

especially for lack of lubricant
it does take a little finese, but it should be kept installed. not likely to be any obstructions, just funky angles down the tube

Dipstick twist

Thanks to all ...

The twisting of the dipstick does the trick.
