Chat room link no good w/AOL

I just updated my AOL IM software, and the link to the chatroom no longer works.

I get this msg: "aim:Gochat does not support the exchange parameter at this time"

I refuse to have any AOL software on my PCs.
I use Trillian instead, much better.

But you have to have Trillian running first, then you can get into the chat.

Something weird has been going on in chat anyways... The inability to post full links. Once you type www. or http:// into a link, it won't work so we have been copying and pasting broken up links.

it makes sence.. if you have ever been in one of their general chats, there is some ass-clown copying and pasting porn links, the whole "Hi my name is Britney, i just moved in and got my web cam set up, come over to my website and check me out, i want to meet new people" type thing.

Yes, there are so many sick people out there trying to get you to pose on your webcams, or show you theirs.

I read a very good article the other day from a New York Times author who was doing an investigation into the life of a 13 year old boy who is now around 16 I think who was lured into that life, and is now out of it and educating people.

If anyone can dig up the article, it is worth your time to read it.

Don't know if you wanted it posted, I took it as "IF you do come across it, read it, I just can't find it right now"
But anyway... since I read it and had it in recent history, I found it.
It is worth readign the 8 pages of the article.

Through His Webcam, a Boy Joins a Sordid Online World

When I was reading it, I wanted to post it up, but didn't want anyone to complain. I was going to post it to the parents out there to let them know what goes on when kids are on the computer. Most parents have the notion "Not my kids".

Kind of like YT... not in a bad way, but when the girly pics are up, people get offended, but YT would be the last place a kid would look for adult material. But look at what this 13 year old was doing, and his dad was pimping him out.
I know the NSFW thing, bu thats a whole other story.

That is the article I read the other day in the newspaper.
When I read it, it seemed perfectly work safe to me.

Very eye opening article indeed.
Thanks for finding the link.
