TJM-15 model 96-98/S1586Y and 99-02/S1586W

Anyone know if the 99-02 4runner TJM model S1586W will fit the 96-98 4runner which calls for S1586Y on the 4x4connection.com site. I am pretty sure the 96-98 will not fit the 99-02 since they manufactured a different version, but will the 99-02 fit the 96-98?

Not positive but I just put one on a 01 and I think only the Brackets would be different. The bumper itself held on by 8 bolts to the brackets instead of directly to the frame. Somebody has to know the answer to this.
Bump for some info.

From what I've read, the 96-98 brackets will fit the 99+ if you cut the endcaps off...but the 99+ brackets WILL NOT fit a 96-98.

I searched around here. Maybe it was Schaefer...I'm 99% sure he has 96-98 brackets on his 99. IIRC, he likes them better.

steve also makes brackets that have shackle hangers. thus, if you are planning to buy new hangers anyways, spend a little more and get steve's w/ the shackle hangers.

I'd say you have two options:

1) Buy new brackets
2) Get the frame endcaps for a 99+ from Toyota.

Yes, I do think so. Not 100% though.

Too much work. You'll loose in the end. A 96-98 can go on a 99-02 but cutting and welding IS required.

The 99-02 mounts will never be able to mount to the 96-98. You will have to buy new brackets and you're going to get hit with at least a minimum 20 dollar drop ship on top of the cost of the brackets.

TJM replacement parts are very expensive. With the drop ship fees and shipping.

All 3rd gen 4r and tacoma TJM bumpers are the same.. the only difference is in the brackets. When I picked mine up from the TJM warehouse in Knoxville,TN the box it was in said it was for a tacoma but he assured me that they were the same and the correct mounting brackets (for a 96 4r) were included. He was right.
