97 4x4 taco suspension

Hello, need some assistance here on a 97 4x4 taco 4cyl. I just picked up this truck last week, I think they beat the crap out of it cuz pretty much all of the suspension was shot. They must have taken it off road with all stock parts.

I changed out what I know: upper and lower ball joints, front struts, rear shocks, changed out some of the bushings, but now I'm worried about the Rack because it is very unstable when I go over any kind of bump while turning. I removed the boot and didn't see an inner tie rod - do the '97's have them and I just don't know what they look like? Any other thoughts on what else my problem could be? There's not much else I could even replace if I wanted to.

This is a good truck, just need to get the suspension thing taken care of before I can let my son drive it - Minnesota winters demand a stable vehicle.

Thanks guys!

Brian

Sounds like you might have a bad steering stabilizer. Easy and cheap to replace!

You said you changed some bushings, did you already change the rack bushings? Might clear up the slop and the poly kit is about $15.00

I did not change the bushings on the rack cuz I thought they were ok. I did change the ones out on the stabilizer bar, those were shot. I can give it a try, it could be a pretty cheap fix.

I did the outter tie rod ends already. Are there inner tie rod ends on this model?
