Rear Heat Update gen.2

Hey All,

An update on my rear heater….when I bought my 4runner several weeks ago I hadn’t noticed the rear heat didn’t work…well, consensus was the heater core is plugged…nope, it was in truth, the supply and return lines…I removed and cleaned the core (incidentally, those aren’t so readily available…or at least I didn’t find a source) and then bought 20 feet of ½” heater hose that I cut in half for the supply and return. For the reinstallation, leave the core loose from its housing and pull it a little further down so you can get enough clearance to be able to tighten the hose clamps. Then you can secure it in the housing between the seats. I then ran the hoses up the passenger side of the truck (avoiding the exhaust pipe on the driver’s side – the heat shield didn’t have enough space behind it for the increased diameter of the rubber lines) strapping them to non-sharp parts as I went and connected them to the “T” fittings where the old lines were…works like a champ now…
