Has anyone tried adapting a 3rd gen pickup gate to a 2nd gen 4 Runner? If so what all was involved? (I should add that I don't want to graft the whole rear to the Runner, just the gate!) Kind of like this.... Pickup gate

 

Well if no one has an answer, could someone with a 3rd gen pickup measure the width of the gate for me?

 

i dotn think width will be the rpoblem, however, the pickup truck and the 4runner are setup way differently as to floor heights.... and that will be an issue with trying to open it....

have you looked into 4 runners setup? he essentially converted his 4 runner rear gate into a tailgate as he chopped of his rear roof due to a rollover

 

Ya I've seen his, but due to a mishap with a telephone pole I cannot convert my hate.... As for the floor height If the width is the same I can do as they did in the following link.... Thanks for the response....

 

Y'all are missing something in this discussion - a Gen1 4Runner has a removeable top. There is no benefit to putting a pickup gate on a gen2 4Runner; what are you going to do with the rear window????

 

Rear window is busted out. I haven't decided what I'm doing withir as of yet... I may chop the back top off, or I may make a canvas and plastic window for it... I'm just trying to get the width so I can narrow down my options....

 

Could someone please measure the width of the pickup gate for me? I would really like to know before I drive to the pick'n pull on Thursday.... Any help would be great.... Larry
