fair price for rear lock-rite installation?

i went up to get a quote for a rear lock-rite installed today from a local 4wheeling shop. (carolina rock shop) for anyone in the charlotte area. they quoted me at 250 for parts, and about 180ish for labor, plus maybe some freight. he told me max it would be around 480ish. to me this sounded a bit steep. any ideas? i thought it was a little cheaper than that...i guess not...

do it yourself man it seriously takes like 3 hours max from parking to driving out of the garage...it isn't that hard either and will save ya some cash. go to 4x4qire and use thier instructions with pictures and follow em, they make life easy

wow. Do the install yourself. these things are SUPER easy to install. I'm 3 hours away, but I'd take like 50 bucks to throw one in and you'd be in and out in under an hour. I would also look at the Aussie Locker. Basically the same thing, but from what I hear cheaper and stronger....

You need a new avatar Dave!

I've heard those things are easy to install. A buddy of mine put one in one evening after work and said it was really easy.

locker was installed! i love it. the difference off road is night and day. im finding im doing things in 2wd that i couldnt do in 4lo. the street manners arent too bad. the only thing thats really a difference is when i leave for school in the morning, i always seem to "chirp" the tires or whatever. other than that, driving on the street is the same...and that clicking noise, but its nice to hear that, cuz i know its there.

btw-i ended up having carolina rock shop install it. good thing i did...turns out my carrier and pinion bearings were absolutely shot. he said another 2 or so months, and i would be having loads and loads of problems.
